I spent time the other day with a wonderful elderly gentleman who said something that resonated with my own way of being. He said he had met a man from London who had moved to Wales to get out of the city and into the country. Every day the London-er would be seen jogging and running very seriously around Newtown. If he was not in his running shoes he was in his fast car.
One day he stopped to tie his laces more securely. The elderly friend stopped to talk, as people do around here and asked 'Where do you come from originally?'(a famous Welsh question).
When he met him again he said 'I've noticed' ... wait for it! 'I've noticed that you come to live in Wales to enjoy it, but never stop to look up at it. You run fast without stopping and just look at the road. Have you seen the daffodils, the primroses, the hedgerows, the hills and clouds?'
'You're right' said the runner.'
ARAF - SLOW DOWN.
