I decided to move away from my comfort zone and keep painting until it began to make sense to me. After a time of mechanical painting I began to see that multiple landscapes were beginning to appear in this apparently random arrangement of spaces.
The colour is more controlled than might at first be imagined. Each layer of painting has a very close family of colours - first blues then red to orange - finally layers of copper and gold.
The initial layer took the form of scaled strict rectangles - the next layer looser rectangular work, followed by circular arrangements and finally back to rectangles but loosely painted in a variety of sizes.
