SPRING - Llanmerewig

While we have lived in Drenewydd I have been able to hold quite a few solo exhibitions, many of which I have forgotten about. I came across this image, presumably the intro. sheet to the catalogue & listings.
Also very kindly I have been awarded two second prizes and a first at the 'Open Exhibitions at Hafren'. It's been a good time art wise with enough sales to pay off my materials & paints bills.

It has been good living just one minute from the countryside ... unfortunately the most interesting road for me out of Drenewydd is very very steep, full of heavy traffic and without a pavement (walkway - pathway). I only tried it out once ... 'scary!'

LITTLE BITS that could be PASSED BY.

I love little details 'in the corner of nowhere' - they can be very beautiful.

Not too busy then!
Using my wooden handbag.

Cei Bach

This is one of many small beaches hidden along the West cost of Wales - little gems. A crowded beach may have up to 20 people but that's only in the height of the tourist season. The rest of the time a plein air painter can relax with just the voice of gulls as company.

At the Source - Gillian Clarke

Have just finished reading a wonderful book by Gillian Clarke - a poet - about the areas in Wales that we both know well. It was wonderful to be allowed to enter into the way in which her poetry develops then to move on to the latter part of the book which gives a month by month account of a year in the countryside close to where we are hoping to move to before long. Can't wait to get my boots on.

Can you look at this photo without smelling the scent?
Spring is on the starting blocks.

I remember coming to Drenewydd and seeing everything with fresh eyes. I am hoping that when we move to Llanon that my eyes will once again be opened afresh.
One of my special desires is always to introduce people to what is there in front of them - to see what has been hidden from them.

Last year we thought this was 'spectacular'! This year we would call it a quiet day at Aberystwyth.

MY JUX SITE for more pictures of Wales.

Oh how nice it will be to 'stand and stare' once more in warm, dry streets. We have missed you!

Many of you may well have heard of the non-stop, very very wet winter parts of Britain have had since before Christmas.
No matter how bad things have been some things seem to press on, move forward, continue. Each day I look from my window for signs of growth - and they are there! Growth is important in all nature. It is good to look for growth in each other, signs of life, to encourage it, nurture and look forward with expectation.
One of my favourite Bible verses say 'I am come that you might have life in all abundance'.

This is a painting I did some years ago with abundance in mind.

This is the year of the berries. But strangely garden birds don't seem to want to eat any of the bird food on offer. Maybe spring has not sprung and they are just snuggled in the hedgerows.

If you're a Welsh learner you might like to try reading BEIBL.NET - choose a familiar passage from an English Bible and have a go! The Welsh bible is in fairly easy Welsh, not quite at 'street level' but certainly not formal. Enjoy - great practice.

Some people are rich and some people are rich.
I feel so rich because of all the good gifts I see, feel, smell, hear all around me. I noticed the other evening while I was sitting still that I could smell the daffodils in the vase in the other room. Just a simple thing but such joy!

After waiting patiently for almost 4 years it looks as though we will be able to move to Llanon in West Wales. We went to look at a house earlier this week only to return the same day with a phone message telling us that an offer had been made on our house - that's God having a lot of fun!
So now we have to wait again until we can finally move. Then I will start to paint again, discovering new places, new views, new excitements ... many of which will now be in Welsh.

The BIG problem is a bit like having a present under a Christmas tree only to be told you can't have it for 10 or more weeks.
